Thanksgiving Dessert Recipes
I gotta be honest, turkey is actually one of my least favorite parts of the Thanksgiving feast. It’s just so… boring. I LOVE the side dishes (green bean casserole anyone?) and I obviously am OBSESSED with the desserts. But again, I think Pumpkin Pie is so-so. It too, I find boring. I’m always on the lookout for other, fall inspired dessert recipes on the dessert table.
From an Easy Apple Cobbler made with Bisquick to Apple Cinnamon Cupcakes with Buttercream Frosting, there are no shortage of delicious ideas to eat around Thanksgiving. So, if you are like me and want to bring something a little different to share with family this Thanksgiving, you’ve got to check out this recipe for Apple Pie Cake.
What Is Apple Pie Cake?
Just like I mentioned above, it’s definitely a cake but it also has pie filling in it. The result is out-of-this-world good! And one of the best things about it is how insanely easy this is to make. This is largely because it is a cake mix recipe. We have been ALL ABOUT cake mix recipes here lately. I love that you can just incorporate a store bought cake mix into your own tasty creation. We’ve made Strawberry Cake Mix Cookies, Banana Pudding Poke Cake and, my favorite, this Ooey Gooey Butter Cake.

What Kind Of Apples Are Best For This Recipe?
For just about all of our baking recipes, we love to use Granny Smith Apples. They are nice and firm, keep their shape when baked and aren’t too sweet. Other apples that you could use in this recipe are Honey Crisp, Braeburn or Jonagold.
Can You Make Apple Pie Cake Ahead Of Time?
Absolutely. Actually, I made this cake yesterday and I just had a piece a little while ago as a dessert after lunch (hey, why not?!?!). I swear it tasted even better today than it did yesterday. I just put it in the microwave for about 15 seconds and it was marvelous.
Storing Apple Pie Cake
You can either keep this in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator. It should be good for 3-5 days. You may get a little more out of it if you keep it in the fridge. You can freeze this recipe. Let it cool down completely. I’d cut it into individual servings before freezing unless you know you’ll be serving it all at once when you need it. Wrap it in freezer wrap and be sure to label it and put the date on it. It will be good for up to 3 months.
I hope you enjoy this recipe! It is seriously my new favorite Fall Dessert or Thanksgiving Recipe. I’m absolutely going to bring his one to share with friends and family this year. It tastes delicious warmed up a little bit with some vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Thanks for reading!
