It’s always good to have a nice, easy go-to dip recipe on hand. I’ve got plenty of hot dips that I absolutely love to make and share with friends and family, like my Rotel Cheese Dip, Buffalo Chicken Crock Pot Dip and Chili Cheese Dip. But I think it’s also great to have some cold dips that could maybe travel a little bit better if you need to bring them to a party, a pitch-in or a tailgate. This Ham Salad Dip is just the thing!
Ham Salad Recipe
If you are like me, you may have a lot of ham left over after the holidays, especially Easter! What to do with all of it? Sure you can make ham sandwiches, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But there are some other things that you can do with ham too! By just mixing together a couple of ingredients with your ham, you can have this tasty ham salad that is a little sweet, a little salty, a little crunchy and a lot of yummy!
Ham Salad Dip
And the coolest thing about this recipe is that it is both a Ham Salad and a Ham Salad Dip. This means that you can put it on a cracker or dip some vegetables in it. Or, you can use it to make a quick sandwich for an easy lunch or dinner. Toast some bread and spread it on with a bed of fresh lettuce and a tomato. Yes please! I love recipes that can actually be two different things and this dish totally fits that bill!
And this recipe couldn’t be easier, just blend these 5 ingredients together and let the flavors merge together in the fridge for a couple of hours!
What Ham Should You Use For Ham Salad?
Really, any ham could work. For this recipe, we used Honey Ham and decided to use Honey Mustard along with it to give it a nice sweet taste to go along with the natural saltiness of the ham. You can use regular ham as well if that is what you have on hand, I’d just use regular yellow mustard or dijon mustard in this case.
We treated the ham to a couple of pulses in a food processor. Just enough to get them into small pieces but not too mushy. If you don’t want to (or don’t have a food processor) no problem, you can just dice the ham into small chunks.
More Ham Salad Variations
No need to be shy about trying different things with this recipe. You can certainly add come shredded cheese to your ham salad or even some diced up hard boiled egg. Or, if you need this to be a more substantial meal, you could also make it into a Pasta Salad by adding some macaroni, rotini or penne to it!
Whether you use it as a Ham Salad or a Ham Salad Dip, I hope you enjoy this recipe. I’d love to know how it turned out for you in the comments!
