This Rigatoni Arrabbiata is a rich, slightly spicy Italian Dish that is made with simple ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen right now! It’s not SUPER spicy, it just has a little kick. In fact “Arrabbiata” means “Angry” in Italian.
All in all, it just takes 30 minutes to throw together and there are just a couple of easy steps! Ready to get started? Here is what you’ll need:
- 16 ounces rigatoni, prepared
- 1 pound ground spicy Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 15-ounce can tomato sauce
- 1 15-ounce can diced tomatoes
- 1 6-ounce can tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes

- ADJUST SPICINESS– Adjust the amount of red pepper to adjust the heat to your liking.

Rigatoni Arrabbiata
Ingredients
- 16 ounces rigatoni prepared
- 1 pound ground spicy Italian sausage
- 1 small onion chopped
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 15- ounce can tomato sauce
- 1 15- ounce can diced tomatoes
- 1 6- ounce can tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Brown the Italian sausage in a large skillet with the onion and garlic.
- When the meat is cooked through, drain excess grease. Add the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, basil, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- When ready to serve, add the prepared pasta and stir to coat in the sauce.
