This Campbell’s Green Bean Casserole is made with just five ingredients and will make the perfect side dish for holidays or any occasion.
Casseroles Are King!
Here at Bubba Pie, we are always on the lookout for great casseroles. Casseroles are so awesome because they are incredibly easy to make and can serve so many purposes. You can use them as a main course, side dish or bring them to a potluck or pitch in. There are a ton great casserole recipes out there, like this Corn Pudding Casserole and this hearty Bacon Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole.
Every year, during Thanksgiving, it seems like someone will always bring a Green Bean Casserole. And, every year, it actually ends up being my favorite dish on the table. It is the thing that I ALWAYS go back for seconds (and thirds) for. So, it was only a matter of time before we published our own Green Bean Casserole on this site.
The secret ingredient for our Green Bean Casserole is Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup. There is just something about putting Cream of Mushroom soup into a recipe that just makes it more comforting, especially on a cold day!
Campbell’s Green Bean Casserole Ingredients
Other than Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup, what other ingredients will you need? Honestly, just a handful and you probably already have these in your cupboards!
- canned green beans
- cream of mushroom soup
- french fried onions
- milk
- soy sauce
- black pepper
I hope you enjoy this Campbell Soup Green Bean Casserole Recipe. I love the creamy green beans and soup topped with those crunch french fried onions. It’s such a great texture combination! Of course, like all casseroles, feel free to experiment with salt and pepper according to your taste. Often, adding just the right amount of either can make any casserole really stand out!
And leftovers will taste great too!
We love to bake casseroles in our Le Creuset Casserole Dish because it comes with a lid! Then you can keep your leftovers right in your casserole dish in the fridge! Or, if you are looking for something a little less “fancy”, this one works great too!
Or, you can get this 6 piece non-stick oven bakeware baking set. Here you can get all the bakeware you’ll ever need!! From muffins to bread loafs to cookie sheets. And it’s only $26.00!!!
I’d love to know how this recipe worked out for you. Please leave your feedback in the comments. Enjoy!

Have you ever subbed cream of chicken for the mushroom? No mushroom fans in our family.
Kathy says
I haven’t personally but there is no reason that wouldn’t work!
MaryLee says
I was horrified to find out one year I was out of cream of mushroom and I used cream of chicken instead. I added in an extra dash of soy sauce and extra crispy onions both in it on on top. It was a little richer but it was tasty. No one complained 😁🦃

Can something be substituted for the milk?
Kathy says
You could substitute oatmilk or almond milk or even coconut milk would be nice.
Danielle says
I added a small can of mushrooms and a little bit of onion powder since my husband requests half of the casserole not be topped with fried onions.
Courtney Cooper says
I used one can of cream of chicken and one can of cream of mushroom. I also added a little of onion salt, season salt and chicken seasoning. It turned out GREAT!!!!

There has never been something so good that is so simple to make!! We love it. May try the Crean of Asparagus soup next. Dallas

Years ago, I changed this recipe…I use broccoli florets instead of green beans…either fresh or frozen…enough to fill a 9×13 inch glass pan. I use 2 cans of cream of broccoli soup in place of the cream of mushroom soup. I also add something that my mother-in-law used to put in this green bean casserole…a jar of chopped pimentos, liquid and all…and I have to say it’s always a standout dish with everybody!!!
Linda Lewis says
I use frozen cut green beans to avoid overcooked or “mushy” green beans. Otherwise this recipe is perfect!
Kathy says
Great tip! Thank you!
Tiffany says
Hi there! If I make it the night before, do you have any tips for warming it the next day?
Kathy says
You can probably stick it back in the oven for about 10 minutes. I’d be hesitant to put the fried onions on top and have it sit overnight though.
Tiffany says
Thanks so much! I’ll add them before warming the next day then!
Maria says
I make this recipe every thanksgiving, it’s everyone’s favorite side dish, my son in law says it’s not Thanksgiving without it, he loves it!

If I double the recipe…do you have any idea how long the cook time should be?
Kathy says
We don’t have an exact time for you. JUst keep an eye on it. If the topping starts to burn you can cover it with aluminum foil.
Luann says
Simply perfect.
Jeanette says
I always double the recipe. I use one can cream of mushroom and one of cream of chicken. I also add two small cans of mushrooms that I chop into small pieces, and chopped fresh onion. I use almond milk instead of dairy (yes, I know the soups are dairy). I substitute coconut aminos for the soy. Fast, easy, delicious!
Pat Andersen says
I use worcestershire instead of soy and add 1/2 to 3/4 c grated cheddar cheese. Have never added milk to my green bean cassarole.
Kathy says
Great suggestions.
Morgan says
Making the bigger batch, I noticed the cook time says to stay the same, is this correct?
