Pizza Soup Ingredients
- PEPPERONI – Cut and half. Or you can use mini-pepperoni. Feel free to also substitute turkey pepperoni.
- GROUND ITALIAN SAUSAGE – You can also use ground beef, ground turkey or ground chicken.
- ONION – Chopped. We like to use yellow onion for it’s softer, milder flavor.
- RED BELL PEPPERS – Chopped. You can use any color bell pepper you’d like.
- ITALIAN STYLE DICED TOMATOES – 2 cans. These have basil, garlic and oregano mixed in with them.
- TOMATO SAUCE – You can also use pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce and this soup will still taste great.
- CHICKEN BROTH – You can really actually use chicken or beef broth. But we used chicken.
- SEASONINGS – We use a combo of Italian Seasoning, Salt and Ground Black Pepper.
- MOZZARELLA CHEESE – Shredded.

Leftovers, Storage and Freezing
You can keep leftovers in an airtight container in your refrigerator. They should stay good for about 4 days. You can reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop over medium heat. Reheat until warm.
Pizza Soup is also great to freeze. Just let it fully cool to room temperature and put it in a freezer safe container or bag. It will be good in your freezer for 4-5 months. Make sure you label the container so that you know when you made it. Thaw overnight in your fridge.
Notes, Tips and FAQs
- TOPPINGS – We finished ours off with a slice of crusty bread. But you can also top with croutons, fresh basil, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese or even some dumplings.
- OTHER INGREDIENTS – This is one of those recipes that you can add just about anything to. Think of any of your favorite pizza toppings and they will work in this soup. Try mushrooms, pre-cooked bacon, ham, olives or spinach!
- USE FROZEN STIF FRY VEGETABLES – For a very quick prep, just replace the diced veggies for frozen vegetables.
- ADD SOME HEAT – Sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes on top for a little heat! I do this on all my pizza!
