What Is a Pretzel Salad?
A Pretzel Salad is a light dessert consisting of a pretzel crust layered with Jello and a light whipped topping. You usually mix some fruit in with it as well. It’s called a “Dessert Salad”, which is sort of an oxymoron to me.. but it IS usually served as a dessert but can also be used for a side dish.
What I love most about Pretzel Salads is the flavor and texture combinations. The crunchy crust with the creamy whipped topping and the sweetness of the Jello with the saltiness of the pretzels. Yum!
We’ve made a couple of these dishes over the years. Our Strawberry Pretzel Salad is one of our most popular recipes on this site! But our Pineapple Pretzel Salad is pretty popular too! Today, we are gonna add one more flavor to our list: Peach Pretzel Salad
Peach Pretzel Salad
This Peach Pretzel Salad is a super easy dessert recipe that goes with just about any occasion! It’s a bright, light and happy treat that friends and family are gonna love! Or you can just keep it all to yourself!
Here is what you’ll need to get started:
- 2 cups crushed pretzels
- 1/2 cup white sugar, divided
- 2/3 cups melted butter
- 1-1/2 bricks (12 oz total) cream cheese, softend
- 1 tub, 8 oz, whipped topping, thawed
- 2 small packages, 3 oz each, peach gelatin
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1-1/2 cups cold water
- 3 cans, 15 oz each, sliced peaches, drained
Can You Make This Dessert Salad Ahead Of Time?
Absolutely! In fact, you sort of need to. While recipe is SUPER easy, this isn’t something you can whip up at the last minute. You will need to let the Pretzel Crust cool completely before add the Jello and whipped topping.
You’ll also need to do some chilling in some of these steps. So I’d recommend making this dessert the day before and letting it hang out in the fridge overnight.
Notes, Tips and Variations
- You can use just about any pretzels for this recipe. But the smaller and thinner they are, the easier they are to crush.
- We love using this baking dish for recipes like this. It’s got it’s own fitted lid so you can easily just keep leftovers right in it!
- I’m using canned peaches for this recipe. I feel they help the Jello set a little better. You can try fresh peaches if you really want to. But I haven’t tried that and I’m not sure what effect they’d have in the consistency of the Jello.
- If you want to lighten up this recipe, you can sub the whipping cream for Cool Whip.
- As I mentioned above, make sure you let each layer cool/chill enough before moving on to the next layer or you’ll be sorry. Trust me.
- If you wanted to sprinkle some mini-marshmallows on top of this recipe, no one would be mad at you.
Is Peach Pretzel Salad Gluten Free?
Not this version. But it can easily be made gluten free by substituting for Gluten Free Pretzels!

My aunt and mother have made something like this for 20 years. They use Ritz crackers and not pretzels. I actually think it tastes better that way. They also use the juice from the peaches to make the jello. I like this better than Strawberry.

Awesome. Thanks for the suggestions!

Having made jello in the past I knew cold water had to be added. The directions do not show the cold water being added. It is listed under the ingredients.
Hoping it comes out ok as I used the cold water.

They absolutely loved it. A big hit. I was always scarred to try jello like this. I also made some for my neighbor behind me. They loved it also. I tell ya Kathy, that there is a hit. I made chili today. I also am making this desert. I will take a pic of it if I know how lol. This desert I put peaches and pears and mandarin oranges. Strawberries didn’t look like they’d be sweet. My sun favorite is peaches so that’s what I made. This time I used 1peach jello & 1 orange jello. So I put peach, pear and meandering orange. I’m sure it will be a hit.💋❤️👍🏼🤟👌
