For The Puppy Chow

  • 4 cups Chex-type cereal
  • ½ cup green candy melts
  • ¼ cup peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 8 tbsp confectioners’ sugar

For The Christmas Topping

  • Red and green M&Ms
  • Small pretzels
  • White chocolate chips


  1. Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside.
  2. Pour cereal into a large bowl.
  3. Add green candy melts, peanut butter and butter into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 20 seconds and stir. If not melted completely, microwave for an additional 15 seconds.
  4. Pour melted candy mixture into large bowl of cereal. Use a spatula to fold gently, taking care that you don’t break the cereal. Fold until all cereal is well-coated.
  5. Add confectioners’ sugar into the bowl of coated cereal and fold gently.
  6. Pour muddy buddies onto lined baking sheet and allow to set for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Serve in individual bowls and garnish with the listed toppings. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

This recipes yields about 3-4 servings. Of course, if you need to double that, you just simply double the amount of ingredients in this recipe. It is the perfect last minute treat to bring to a holiday party or office pitch-in. This is one of those Holiday snacks that EVERYBODY loves.

Also, if you want to add a little extra Christmas flair, it may be fun to crumble up some peppermint to put on top of the melted mixture before it dries.
