Chipped Ham Sandwich

This Chipped Ham Sandwich is a classic Pittsburg, PA recipe consisting of impossibly thin ham mixed with a savory, slightly sweet sauce. The Chipped Ham is perfect for making sandwiches or sliders. It's great to share with friends and family and is super kid friendly!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 lb shaved or thin sliced ham
  • 6 hamburger buns

Instructions

  • Add ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and vinegar to a saucepan and mix well.
    Cook chipped sauce in saucepan
  • Slice ham as thinly as possible.
    Slice ham as thin as possible.
  • Add to sauce.
    Thinly slice ham and add it to the saucepan.
  • Heat on medium high heat and mix frequently until boiling.
    Stir over medium heat.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring frequently as flavors mingle and mixture heats.
  • Serve immediately on buns.
