These Beef Tips and Rice are a classic Southern Comfort Food that makes and easy family dinner any night of the week. Tender beef is cooked in a hearty, rich gravy and served over rice.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 pounds cubed beef stew meat
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 2 cups white rice prepared

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet.
  • Add the onion and garlic and saute until translucent.

  • Add the stew meat.

  • Combine beef broth, soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

  • Add to the pan. Stir to combine.

  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer covered until the meat is tender, around 1 1/2 hours.
    Cook beef tips and add gravy
  • When the meat is cooked, whisk together the brown gravy mix and water until smooth. Pour the mixture into the pan and simmer until the sauce has thickened.
  • Serve over rice.
