RUNZAS: A MIDWEST CLASSIC

– 1 loaf frozen bread dough thawed – 1 lb lean ground beef – 1 onion chopped – 2 cups shredded cabbage – 1 teaspoon garlic powder – 1 teaspoon salt – 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

– Thaw bread dough according to package directions.  – Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.  – In a large skillet, add onion and ground beef and cook over medium heat until beef is browned and onion is translucent.

- Add shredded cabbage.

- Add garlic powder, salt and pepper.

- Mix well and continue to heat for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.

- Divide the bread loaf into 6 equal parts. Spread each piece of dough into a 6" square, if possible.

- Place 3/4 cup of beef mixture into the center of the bread.

- Fold up the sides and pinch together. Place seam side down onto prepared baking sheet. Repeat until you have use all 6 pieces of dough.

- Bake for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and serve.
